Career at Forest Ranging

The wild land and wilderness of a country or state is guarded by the forest rangers. Forest rangers are ready to go anywhere in emergency period but in general they are assigned area wise. Forest service is related to women all time. Now you are free to join anywhere as a forest ranger. In the year 2010 the total number of female forest rangers is about half.

Required skills

The main criteria to be a forest ranger is that you need the citizenship of USA. If you have a permanent resident in the USA and if you meet up the criteria for being a citizen you can also apply. You should have a legal driving license to qualify for this job. Qualification requirements are determined according to the grade level. For instance, though Gs-5 level requires a bachelor's degree but GS-2 level needs only school diploma. Though qualification requirement is area specific but if you have a bachelor degree in forest related subject you will be benefited everywhere. Complete your bachelor degree on forestry, forest management, ecology, botany, biology and wildlife and fisheries management for getting special consideration for this job.

Serve the visitors

In a park Tourists, campers, hikers and researchers are available constantly. You have to engage yourself for informing the visitors all things about the park including rules and regulations. Their safety is in your hand. You have to be the best friends of the visitors. When any visitors get lost, you should find and save them

Your job is to protect the forest

You are engaged in protecting the wild area where you are working. You have to work hard for preventing forest fires. It is your responsibility to bring back the green forest if fire damages the forest. If the animals and birds are hurt it is your liability to take care them and the animals which are threatened to people, please anesthetize and entrap them.

Your payment

At first you have to commence your job under a direct supervision of an experienced ranger. You will be paid based on your level and area where you are working. Virginia park rangers earn (23,999 to 31,352)$  yearly. You can earn yearly $29,928 to $46,396 in Texas and In California the income varies between $38,532 to 50, 244$. Your annual income may vary from $27,431 to 35,657 when you are a graduate park ranger.
